Eating is a favourite past time of Singaporeans. Thus, having night supper here is something you should not miss!

A place which holds many beautiful memories for most Singaporeans regardless of race, Telok Ayer Market (water bay), which is currently known as Lau Pa Sat, used to be Singapore's first wet market in 1894. In the mid 70s, the market was converted into a hawker centre and the building structure here remains as what it used to be.

Lau Pa Sat offers wide varieties of food due to the diversity of race. If you do not already know, Singapore is a multi-racial society which consists of 4 races: Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian. This is why you are able to find so many different types of delicious ethnic food!

Have you any experiences of dining on the road? If not, this is definitely the place for you to try out! In the evening, the road will be blocked so as to allow tables and the satay stall to be set up. It is a unique experience to dine on the road, where you can enjoy the night view of the central business district.

What is the food that comes to most Singaporeans' mind when Lau Pa Sat is mentioned? Well, it's non other then SATAY! Over here at Lau Pa Sat, you can find more than 10 satay stalls around! But,what exactly is satay?

Satay is an Indonesian and Malaysian dish consisting of small pieces of meat grilled on a skewer and served with spiced peanut sauce.

So, it is definitely a MUST to try out satay if you were to visit Singapore! Don't worry about which stalls to buy from. We tried out satays from a few stalls and all were equally great.

Of course, Lau Pa Sat is also famous for other types of food! It is, no doubt, one of the places where many well-known stalls are located. So next time, if you're hungry in the middle of the night, Lau Pa Sat is the way to go!
