A beach crowded with hunks and babes....What is the first thing that comes to your mind? Sentosa of course! This 500 hectare island has a number of unique leisure and recreational areas such as sandy beaches, resorts, numerous family attractions and much much more!
In addition, it is certainly a place for family, friends and loved ones. It is an island where everyone should go to for a day of fun and excitement when visiting Singpaore. To add on, "Sentosa" in Malay actually means peace and tranquility.
So what are you waiting for? Put on that straw hat and sunglasses of yours and allow us to bring you through this amazing and magical island!
Getting there
There are a few ways to get to Sentosa:
1. Sentosa Express, available at Vivocity, level 3. $3 per head.
2. Car, $2 per car for an entry and $2 per head.
3. Taxi, $2 per head is required.
4. Sentosa Bus (Orange), board from HabourFront bus interchange and you will alight at Beach Station. $3 for the bus.
5. Cable Car, not available at the moment due to upgrading work. But, it will be ready by 2010.
In our opinion, taking the Sentosa Express (monorail) to Sentosa is the best as the pass that you purchase entitles you to unlimited rides to and fro the 4 staions for that day. In addition, the waiting time for the arrival of the Sentosa Express is rather short. Thus, it is very worthwhile to purchase the pass.
Getting Around
1) Beach Tram
Hop on the beach tram to get to the any of the 3 beaches in Sentosa. You can find the beach tram station right outside the Beach station if you were to take the Sentosa Express from Vivocity. The good thing is, it is absolutely free of charge! There are designated waiting areas for the trams so do not attempt to hop on or get off the tram when it is moving. In our opinion, it is the best way to travel around the beaches. It saves you the tiredness of walking from one end to the other while enjoying the cool sea breeze at the same time.
2) Sentosa Bus (Inner)
Cannot stand walking under the hot sun? Take the air-conditioned Sentosa bus that travels within Sentosa. There are a total of 3 different lines: Red, Yellow and Blue. A signboard will be placed in front of the bus to indicate what line they are. So, do double check before boarding. You wouldn't want to end up at the wrong place! You may refer to the signboard at the bus station regarding the places these different lines travel to. The signboards are rather user-friendly so don't worry about getting confused.
3) Bicycle
Want to burn some calories while traveling around Sentosa? Rent a bike! Bicycle rental shops can be found along the beaches. The price of a bike is $5/hour onwards, depending on the type of bicycle you decide to rent. However, we feel that renting a bike maybe a hassle as you cannot stop by as and when you like without finding a place to park your bicycle.
In the following posts, we will continue to introduce more about the attractions in Sentosa.
